The ^ Shed
Who are we?
We are a community based volunteer group which originally began in 1995 as the Noarlunga Community Action Group. Later that year our name changed to Southern Community Project Group Inc.
We have now adopted the name: “The-
Volunteer Workshop” for marketing purposes. We have become known as “The Shed” for some years now and were the original community “SHED”
What Do We Do?
The workshop provides opportunity to residents to become a volunteer member to complete individual projects or participate in the general workshop projects.
Members have access to an extensive range of tools and equipment ( Inc. Woodworking, Metal Working, Machining & Welding) that ordinarily may not be available to most hobbyists and handymen.
Have a project you want to work on for yourself. Bring it along and work on it at the shed, ask for ideas or bring some ideas to share?
Have a project but can’t build it? Bring along your idea, there are plenty of blokes
that can either teach you how to do it or can do it for you -
Many retired people downsize their living arrangements, often resulting in the man's
personal space, his garden shed or workshop being lost. Our Shed has been set up
to meet the above needs and to provide a substitute space for the 'shed-
We provide supervised access to community groups to develop workshop skills.
The Little Shed Dwellers are groups of primary school children. They attend once a week to paint, glue, create and generally have fun.
Weekly woodworking classes for a group from Panangga – Mental Illness Fellowship of SA.
If there are groups who are interested (Schools, disadvantaged Groups Etc) contact Jim Forbes on
8186 4188.

We provide a repair or small project service to the community at very reasonable prices.
(See Page “Repairs to furniture Etc”
We Take Orders
Have something in particular that you want made? Like one of our standard products but want a few alterations made. Ask us. We are happy to do whatever you want, where possible.
The proceeds of sales help us upgrade our equipment and aid toward the support of our organisation
Who does what?
The volunteers actually run the shed. They decide what to do, when to do it and at what pace they do it. With individual projects or group projects. Everything that happens at The Shed is due to our very willing volunteers. Over the years we have achieved much, only because of the people who are willing to give generously of their time and talents. Some of the volunteers include: Office Administrators, Various Trades People.
If you would like to become a “Shed” volunteer please contact us or come a see when we are open. Everyone is welcome to drop in a say hello and look at our facilities.
